Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 18, 2026

QR & Barcode Scanner ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to transparently disclosing how our application collects, uses, and safeguards your information. This Privacy Policy applies to the QR & Barcode Scanner mobile application.

1. Information Collection and Use

To provide and improve our Service, we may require you to provide us with, or allow us to access, certain personally identifiable information and device data. The information that we request will be retained by us and used as described in this privacy policy.

A. Third-Party Data Collection (Analytics & Advertising)

Our app integrates several third-party software development kits (SDKs) that automatically collect data for analytics, performance monitoring, and advertising purposes:

Google Analytics for Firebase: Collects usage data, session lengths, device identifiers, and event tracking to help us understand how users interact with the app.

Firebase Crashlytics & Performance: Collects crash logs, stack traces, and app performance metrics (such as startup time and network requests) to help us identify and fix bugs.

Google AdMob: Collects your device's Advertising ID, IP address, and potentially location data to serve targeted advertisements within the app.

Google ML Kit: Processes barcodes and QR codes and collects limited diagnostic data (such as device model and API success rates) to manage machine learning models.

B. Location Data

Because the app requests Precise Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION), we or our third-party advertising partners (Google AdMob) may collect, use, and share your precise geographical location to provide location-based ad targeting or to facilitate Wi-Fi network connections when scanning Wi-Fi QR codes.

C. Device and Phone State

The app requests access to read your phone state (READ_PHONE_STATE). This allows the app to access unique device identifiers (such as IMEI or device serial numbers) and current cellular network information. This is typically utilized by the integrated analytics or advertising SDKs for device identification and ad targeting.

2. App Permissions

To provide specific functionalities, our application requires the following device permissions:

Camera: Required to visually scan QR codes and barcodes.

Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION): Required for specific local network tasks or to allow ad networks to serve geographically relevant advertisements.

Phone State (READ_PHONE_STATE): Required to read device identity information.

Network & Wi-Fi (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE): Required to connect to the internet, load advertisements, send analytics data, and configure Wi-Fi connections when scanning Wi-Fi QR codes.

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used via Firebase Messaging to send you push notifications and updates.

Alarms & Scheduling (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Used to trigger specific timed events or background processes accurately.

System Overlays (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW, SYSTEM_OVERLAY_WINDOW): Allows the app to draw UI elements over other active applications on your screen.

Device Boot (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Allows background services (like notifications or background syncing) to start automatically when you restart your device.

Vibrate (VIBRATE): Provides physical haptic feedback when a scan is successful.

3. Third-Party Privacy Policies

The app uses third-party services that have their own Privacy Policies regarding how they handle your data. We strongly recommend reading their terms:
